Mrs. Speck-Tritter

Welcome to Art Class! September is an exciting time for us all as the students become involved in art and I get to know them, each and every one.  It is my wish and goal for all students to develop an appreciation of art and to know that all children are artists.

Younger students will be exploring theme centered projects allowing them to build their fine motor skills, explore a variety of materials and create a large range of art works.  Older students will be making art works emphasizing the elements and principles of design.  All students will investigate line, shape, form, value, color, space and texture.  History, artists and cultures will also be explored.  These art projects reinforce the elements while adding personal creative touches.  Seasonal religious projects are incorporated into the art curriculum as well.

All art lessons connect to the NH State Standards for Art Education and every student is graded fairly. Please click on the Grading Rubric for Art link to see additional relevant information on grading in art class.

Field Trips to the Currier Museum of Art have been planned for October 14th, 15th, 20th & 21st.  More detailed information will follow.  Any parent able to volunteer as a chaperon for these field trips is greatly appreciated.  The more the merrier!  Please make sure you have completed “Protecting God’s Children” if you’d like to volunteer.  Field trip permission slips will be coming home in mid September and must be returned to school by Oct. 1st.

Please check back at the beginning of each month for important art news, announcements, and to see what is happening in the art room.  I am looking forward to a wonderfully creative year!

Best,

Mrs. Speck-Tritter
